Overview

SCO Module 2 – Operations & Control builds on the core knowledge from Module 1 and focuses on practical operational procedures, safe control of activities, and compliance within gas network operations. Delegates gain a thorough understanding of operational workflows, control measures, and communication requirements to maintain safe and effective gas network management.

Training combines classroom theory with interactive exercises and case studies to reinforce safe operational practices.

Objectives

This module develops practical skills and operational awareness for safe and compliant gas network operations, including:

  • Operational Planning – Understanding the planning and coordination of SCO activities, including permit-to-work processes.
  • Control Measures – Applying safety and control measures to operational activities to minimise risk.
  • Monitoring & Reporting – Recognising the requirements for monitoring, reporting deviations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Communication & Teamwork – Maintaining clear communication between team members, supervisors, and Authorising Engineers.
  • Emergency Response – Understanding procedures for handling incidents, deviations, and emergency situations.

Competency & Compliance – Ensuring all personnel meet SCO competency standards and maintain EUSR registration requirements.

Pre-Course Requirements

Delegates must have completed SCO Module 1, and have suitable reading and writing skills.
