The NRSWA Unit S3 course trains Supervisors to monitor reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials following excavation works. It focuses on assessing operatives’ compliance with specifications, safety requirements, and the NRSWA code of practice.
Supervisors are not required to perform the reinstatement themselves but must demonstrate the ability to assess and ensure compliance on-site. Successful completion leads to registration on the Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR).
Objectives
On completion of this course, candidates will be able to:
- Understand the processes and specifications for reinstating and compacting backfill materials.
- Monitor quality and compliance of reinstatement work against standards.
- Identify risks associated with poor reinstatement and ensure corrective action.
- Demonstrate competence through written assessment to achieve SWQR registration.
Pre-Course Requirements
No formal qualifications are required, but delegates should have a basic level of written and spoken English. PPE is required, including safety boots, hi-visibility clothing, gloves, safety glasses, and a safety helmet.
