​​Overview

​​There are two Mainlaying pathways to choose from:

​​

• ​​Self Lay (e.g. Multi Lay) or Distribution

​​​Option available to do additional units related to Escape, Leak & Repair

​​Objectives

​​On completion of the course participants should be able to:

• ​​Create an efficient and effective environment
• ​​Maintain a safe and secure working environment
• ​​Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• ​​Install equipment for safe working on the highway
• ​​Install equipment for safe working on sites
• ​​Excavate and maintain holes and trenches
• ​​Operate powered tools and equipment
• ​​Join materials by Electrofusion processes
• ​​Join material by Butt fusion process up to 180mm
• ​​Conduct specified testing of products
• ​​Conduct specified connections to gas mains and commissioning
• ​​Install gas products up to 180mm

​​Classroom, Workshop based training and assessment.  Portfolio building

​​Pre Course Requirements

​​Candidates with on-site experience, including water and multi lay operatives, who ideally hold a Level 1 qualification

​​Those carrying out mainlaying activities
